Infographic – Poop! A four-letter word no one’s talking about
Interesting, but maybe a little dated. Most toilets installed in this country now flush 1.28 gallons per flush. 1.6 gallons it the most allowed by law for new toilets although there are a lot of ones still in use that flush much more. Most toilets now are also "chair height" and elongated, as contrasted to round. Elongated are more comfortable and hygienic for men. Dual flush toilets are also starting to gain some market share in this country. They flush about 1 gallon for liquids and 1.6 gallons for solids. Durham, your home town, has a program that rebates $100 from your water bill if you install a "Water Sense" toilet which includes any toilet the flushes 1.28 gallons or is dual flush. A decent Water Sense toilet can be purchased for about $100. "Flush power" is rated 10 out of 10 on most of them. More info is at www.DurhamSavesWater.org.
I know all this shit because I sell at lot of toilets during shifts in the plumbing aisle at Home Depot.
